COMPANION APP CODE: 3JM77Y3 and J2EYY72 (sign up on the ones you attended in, might be both of these and could be a third event if you play Commander and even a fourth if you Draft!)

All MTG events are run by the official Companion App. Please download and sign up BEFORE you arrive to the store. The event code will be added here and it will be visible on the store screens. Players that use Companion App (CA) earn official (and unofficial) promos since player metrics is what determines the amount of promos we get for players.

 

WHAT IS MTG ACADEMY: LEARN TO PLAY?

Magic Academy: Learn to Play is the first of a two-part series that takes Welcome Decks and additional material support to create an awesome new player experience. Yes, you get to keep the Welcome Deck! Brand new players will learn how to play with a video demo, handy brochure, and pocket reference cards they can continue to use during games. Then, players will be paired up to play friendly games.

 

WHAT IS MTG ACADEMY: DECK BUILDING?

Magic Academy: Deck Building is the second of this two-part series that guides players through deck building and their first foray into Limited format play. Each player purchases 6x Play Boosters (or leftover Prerelease Packs if we have any available) to build a deck. This is good practice for any Prerelease events for upcoming future sets and gives a good base for one of the the best parts of MTG; deck building.

Players will sort out their cards, identify the cards they want to build around, then build their first 40-card deck. Before event organizers split players into pairs for casual one-on-one matches, we include a deck review phase where new players show their deck to experienced staff or players who can provide advice to those building a deck for the first time.

Experienced players can use Magic Academy: Learn to Play & Deckbuilding as their opportunity to teach family and friends and help welcome the next generation of Magic players into the Gathering.

 

STORE RULES, HYGIENE, RECYCLING, CLEANLINESS, ETC.

Players are expected to have read the store rules etc. before entering the store.

  • Welcome Decks for participants
  • Surplus promo cards given to the new players that visit us via CompanionApp for the first time as well as given to the player that brings that new player to us!
