COMPANION APP CODE:
All MTG events are run by the official Companion App. Please download and sign up BEFORE you arrive to the store. The event code will be added here if there’s time and it will be visible at the store screens. Adding players as a “guest” into our event does not generate more promos for the players. Players that use Companion App (CA) earn official (and unofficial) promos since player metrics is what determines the amount of promos we get for players.
WHY NOT ON THE PREVIOUS WEEKEND AS BEFORE?
Midsummer / Juhannus means that even if it was a Universes Within (UW) original MTG setting, the majority of us Finns are out of town in summer cabins etc. OMG usually isn’t open during a Juhannus weekend. This, in addition to the set being a Universes Beyond set, made it an easy decision to have it after the festivities. Unfortunately they only let us have one weekend within the time-window, so we opted for one small event on a weekday which usually has a bit of extra space: Tuesday.
WHY SO FEW SEATS & PRODUCTS?
There is a max. 30 seats for this set, please be quick if you want in. We unfortunately can not host a 2HG tourney for Marvel Super Heroes. We have opted not to take our full allocation of Prerelease Packs (and thus the max.amount of “free of charge” prize boosters!) due to a very low attendance in our previous Universes Beyond sets in comparison to the Universes Within sets. The UB set PR Packs are not cheap.
The same is true for our preorders of products. This is the lowest amount of MTG ever ordered by us. There probably won’t be any single cards on sale from us for this set. We love trying to sell gaming pieces and events at an affordable price for the players, but we can not keep taking the risk on behalf of the whole community (ie. ordering blindly). We also need to be financially ready for the upcoming sets as well. So, players need to preorder sets way before spoilers start, or risk being without product come release day. The UB sets should be easy when you think of it: if you’re a fan of for instance Marvel, then you preordered blindly to ensure you get something. If a set is unpopular but you bought it, at least your hobby is a trading card game and a very healthy secondary market exists (Cardmarket etc.). We even credit in single MTG cards. And if it’s a hit set, you’ve just increased your chances of actually receiving product since most players order too late (although UW sets usually are allocated heavily / we get less than we ordered, first come first served). We host 12+ TCGs at an official capacity and have to order all products blindly from distributors usually months before spoilers. Players can and should help with this burden if they want to support an LGS that actually prioritizes F2F events, Organized Play in general and fair trade. Can not find the item your looking for? WHAT IS A PRERELEASE?
Prereleases are hyper-casual and an awesome gateway format for those willing to delve into the beautiful game of Magic. It’s also a fantastic way of getting to know the wonderful gaming community of OMG. We are very inclusive and players help each other a lot during prereleases. There’s a designated Land Station of free basic lands for your decks. Deck building time is approx. 50min, after which we give out pairings shown on our screens and on your Companion App. Amount of rounds is max. 3 no matter the amount of players & the round time is 50 minutes. Estimated event time is 4 hours.
**You will get less deckbuilding time if you arrive late and minimum time needed for that is ~30min! Others made it on time, so can you!**
PRODUCTS
We are allowed to sell almost every kind of product specific to this set during an MTG prerelease, including single boosters and single cards, but excluding “Gift Bundles” or equivalent products (usually different release date). Please remember to preorder your sealed products well in advance via email or our online store!
STORE RULES, HYGIENE, RECYCLING, CLEANLINESS, ETC.
Players are expected to have read the store rules etc. before entering the store.
PRIZES
- As long as you’ve played at least one full round in addition to the deckbuilding, we distribute 2x PLAY boosters per participant during the event. Remember to ask for yours if you choose to drop. No top-heavy prizing!
- Bring-a-Friend promos (both new CA players and their experienced friends receive promos).
**All promos might arrive late and are available as long as supplies last!**
